We are proud of our ability to provide and develop a wide and highly diverse range of products catering for present and future commercial needs. Our rapidly growing product pipeline consists of products at various stages of development from inception to commercialization. We are working closely with our partners in developing seven major products and are in negotiations to extend and develop partnerships for some of our other products.
We successfully launched our first commercial product in November 2008, Gesticare, a prenatal vitamin supplement involving our proprietary manufacturing technology.
Our current lead product, CPI-300, was formulated using IntelGenx’s proprietary controlled release technology. It contains a new, market first, strength of antidepressant developed to complete the dosing options for physicians who currently prescribe the drug. CPI-300 provides a more convenient dosing option for those patients currently taking the higher strength. It will be indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD). IntelGenx and Cary Pharmaceuticals (our partner in this project) filed their New Drug Application (“NDA”) (505(b)(2) in the first quarter of 2009 and will be filing a subsequent amendment to the NDA in the third-to-fourth quarter of 2010, with commercialisation of the product anticipated in the first half of 2011.
Our second most advanced product, INT0001/2004, is a once-daily formulation of a hypertensive medication. This is the most advanced generic product involving our patented Multilayer Technology. Equivalency with the reference product Toprol XL and its European equivalent Beloc-ZOK has been demonstrated in-vitro. The product has been tested in phase I studies.
Our Oral Medical Wafer and Mucoadhesive delivery development is also well advanced. These technologies are currently being developed to combat various ailments ranging from Erectile Dysfunction, Pain Management, Anti-Inflammatory, Anti-Migraine and Panic Attack using immediate, quick or controlled release systems. We expect to commence commercialization of some of these products as early as 2011.
